Ann Jackson and Mike McCormick<\/strong> hosted the season opener party at their house on the Severn River on March 22. \u00a0It was a gorgeous day to take in a view of the water and hang with lots of BABA friends. \u00a0We had a brief peek\u00a0at spring in between the big March snow storm and the following week\u00a0of snow, record low temperatures and slurpee-like frozen stuff falling from the sky.<\/p>\n

About 40 BABA’ns\u00a0were in attendance\u00a0to vote on the slate of officers for 2014 (not really, they were all there for the party and sponsor goodies, but we had to take care of club biz first). \u00a0For 2014,\u00a0Daphne Lathouras<\/strong> is chair, Dave Iseri<\/strong>\u00a0is vice chair, Ann Jackson<\/strong> continues as secretary and Helen Van Gelder<\/strong> continues as treasurer. \u00a0All of our Steering Committee members\u00a0agreed to continue with their BABA jobs: \u00a0Janice Emerling<\/strong> – Clinics; Coby Leyden<\/strong> – Hatteras Trips; Ann<\/strong> – Membership; Daphne<\/strong> – Blog and Web and \u00a0Dave<\/strong> – Sponsorship. \u00a0Members at Large include Bill Anderson, Carsten Boekholt, Fan Pat, Colin Pits, Maureen Pritchard, Albert Pritchard, Mark Raginsky and Fred Thomas<\/strong>. \u00a0Mike McCormick,<\/strong> our past chair, joins the Members at Large and will continue to coordinate the Mayo Watersports Fun Fest (and help Ann with her duties, and guide Daphne in her duties as chair), \u00a0and Warren Evans<\/strong> is \u00a0joining the SC as Member at Large. \u00a0Warren is\u00a0helping coordinate the East Coast Championships Regatta at Mayo in September. \u00a0Thank you all for serving BABA!<\/p>\n

The Sponsorship Coordinator<\/strong> has \u00a0an important role on the Steering Committee and with Dave\u00a0taking on the added responsibilities of\u00a0Vice Chair he would love to teach someone the ropes to take it on. \u00a0Our sponsors are very generous, it’s not much work and through their support we have many happy BABA members sporting new gear from Dakine and Chinook among others. \u00a0Please e-mail Dave<\/a> if you’d like to help out. \u00a0We are also looking for a Racing Coordinator<\/strong>. \u00a0For the time being that job is being divided among several people – if you’d like to help with one aspect of one of the regattas to see how it’s done, \u00a0please contact Daphne<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0welcome all volunteers for large and small jobs, including writing for this blog. \u00a0 Please contact any member of the steering committee<\/a> to get involved and show your stoke for BABA activities.<\/p>\n
