BABA East Coast Championships Regatta and Meet at the Beach Weekend
Part of the US Windsurfing National Race Tour
September 14 & 15, 2019
Beverly Triton Beach Park, Edgewater, MD
The ECC will include Formula, Slalom, Open, Kona, Windsurfer LT, Foil and Long Distance.
Meet at the Beach – BABA members, family and friends are encouraged to come out and windsurf, sail or SUP. The regatta is a great time to hang out with your BABA peeps and enjoy a day on the water even if you don’t want to race. We also encourage and provide help and support to beginning windsurfers. If you’ve just bought a bunch of gear and are still learning to rig and tune we can help you! There’s always a good crowd at BABA Races, and it’s a great time to check out an unfamiliar launch with experienced windsurfers around.
2018 BABA East Coast Championships Regatta
– part of US Windsurfing National Racing Tour
September 15 & 16, 2018
Beverly Triton Beach Park, Edgewater, MD
Notice of Race (revised August 29, 2018)
Hurricane Florence Update #2 – posted September 13 at 7:00 pm
Notice to all ECC racers: At the moment we are still watching hurricane Florence. She is currently about 145 miles off the coast of Wilmington. Our area appears to be in the clear!
We are holding to the NOR and the race is on!!
The weather conditions now predicted for our area look great for racing. Saturday 11 to 17 knots with some light rain early with chances of the sun popping out later in the day.
Sunday 8 to 15 knots with a mix of sun, clouds and showers.
The tides are not expected to be more that last weekend of 1 to 3 feet above normal but probably won’t see much increase until after the regatta.
The Conowingo dam did release on Wednesday. We will probably see some debris floating so let’s use some caution while sailing. The RC will watch for issues and attempt to help this.
We look forward to a great and windy regatta – lets sail!
Thanks for hanging in there with us!

Hurricane Florence Update #1 – posted September 11 at 8:30 pm
Notice to all ECC racers at the moment we are watching hurricane Florence closely and as she gets more predictable when landing to the coast we will have a better idea of the ECC race status.
Currently we are holding to the NOR and the race is on!!
If we see on Thursday that the conditions will not be conducive to racing we will post this by Thursday afternoon via email and Facebook. Please email babanews@mac.com to be included in email updates.
The current prediction of weather in our area is 13 to 18 knots and good sailing. It is likely the storm path will land in the area between Wilmington and Morehead city. The consensus is that once hitting land the storm will stall and rapidly decrease winds to 30 knots as it goes inland. It will carry significant rain. Our area is expected 13 to 18 knots and normal weather with some mix of sun and showers possible Sunday and 11 to 18 knots Saturday and occasional clouds and sun.
The biggest threat will be tides increasing. The best guess at the moment 2 to 3 feet above normal.
We look forward to a great and windy regatta – let’s sail!
We will give further updates on Thursday

BABA Race Director
